Just the beginning. . .
Aug 17th
This is it. . . the beginning of a month long journey with me at the World Series of Bowling/Women’s Series taking place in Allen Park, MI. Here I will let you in on what I’m doing, how I’m feeling, and answer any and all questions you have regarding this month long PBA journey. Please post your messages, questions, and comments here!
I packed up pretty much all my everythings at the beginning of this week. Since I drove here by myself I figured I would pack up my life and bring everything here. Well, pretty much. Everything but the cute husband I had to leave home
I had a suitcase for bowling clothes, a suitcase for normal clothes, a suitcase for Kaizen by diandra shirts to sell (hopefully) and suitcase for any free time I may have… Designing Jewelry.
I arrived in Michigan on Thursday night. I am staying at friends house for the month. (Thank You Tulley’s!!) I am very fortunate to have such great friends here that are willing to not mind my company for the month. They have a very cute little 2 year old girl, Montana, who I will very much enjoy making friends with during my stay. She has already warmed up to me by saying my name and always asking me what I’m doing.
Practice for the Viper Championships took place at 11am on Friday. I had a good workout with my Brunswick rep, Rick Benoit during the practice session. He pointed out balls that would work on the surface we are bowling on, and what should match up the best. He mentioned the Avalanche Slide. I told him I never really throw the slide (and I had 15 balls in the building at that time) and that I prefered other balls on the Viper pattern. He suggested I go to my car and try it out. Good thing I did! It matched up the best the next day with Brunswick’s Avalanche Slide.
I got off to a rocky start on Saturday. I didn’t feel like I made the right decisions, but I certainly learned from my mistakes and assured myself that I would not make the same mistakes when we returned from the break at 3pm. I ended the first block with a 298! The last shot just didn’t quite get to the spot. Left a 3-10. Check out highlights from that game at www.pba.com/xtraframe

The second block went better. It was an honor to bowl with Carolyn Dorin Ballard and Kelly Kulick. CDB had a great day of bowling and it was fun to watch her match up with one ball the entire first block, when I threw about 6 different ones. Kelly always offers comic relief when she bowls, which is always entertaining. I mainly threw the Destruction, Avalanche Slide, and Maxx Zone.
I qualified in 3rd place (just missed 2nd by one pin.. Wendy Mac shot 276 at the end of the second block to go around me)
On Sunday we bowled the best of 7 matches. I bowled 6th place, which was Liz Johnson. She’s tough, especially on a short pattern! She all but crushed me for 4 games. I managed to get one win from the match but she clearly matched up much better than I did. Congrats to her for going on all the way to the final two! She will bowl Lynda Barnes on the TV finals at the beginning of September. Be sure to watch!
