Fagan, Belmonte, Asbaty Clinic . . .
Aug 9th
Over 50 bowlers participated in the Fagan Bowling Clinic featuring Jason Belmonte and me! This wasn’t your typical bowling clinic. All ages were represented, of all levels. It was a great experience for me, personally, to be able to coach next to some of my good friends. I’ve known Mike since we were about 13 and I met Jason in 2003 at the World Championships. Both admirable bowlers, and very good people.
Thanks goes out to a number of people to added to the success of the clinic.
Norm Ginsberg for letting us hold the clinic in his center, Plainview Lanes.
Amanda Fagan for checking everyone in with a smile on her face.
Steve Evans who took photos of all the participants with their favorite bowlers. (us)
And everyone who came out to learn a little bit more about our great sport!
We had four groups that would rotate every 45 mins to a different coach. Mike, Jason, and I each had something different to offer the bowlers. I focused on the four step approach with the beginners and talked about the mental game and how to throw a shot in a pressure situation with the more advanced. Â Jason covered how to choose the right ball for the pattern you are bowling on. Mike spoke on lane patterns, and differences.
After the four groups travelled to all four coaches, we signed autographs for about an hour and then there was a competition on the lanes for the bowlers. The winners would receive prizes: a Michael Fagan official Jersey. Kaizen by diandra T-shirts. Bowling Pins.
This was the first chance we had for all three of us to coach together. We make a good team and I can most definitely see us doing many more coaching clinics together in the future.
